LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2022) — Purposes are open to College of Kentucky College of Medicine college students for the third cohort of the White Coats for Black Lives fellowships.
The Department of Behavioral Science created the fellowship and is supported by its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council.
The fellowships had been developed to boost medical college students’ understanding of well being disparities, political and social inequalities and well being care inequities skilled by Black People attributable to historic specific bias and modern implicit bias throughout the well being care system.
The hope is that the expertise will improve medical faculty coaching, improve the understanding of how behavioral science analysis may help to handle well being disparities and allow college students to be higher ready to look after underserved Black affected person populations.
Two fellows will probably be chosen to take part within the 2023-24 cohort.
Over the course of 18 months, every fellow will work with a behavioral science college mentor on a analysis or community-engaged undertaking addressing Black People’ well being.
